Can You Share A Little Bit About Your Background And What Led You To Your Role At Triton?
I created my first sales website in 1996. Since then, I have been at the forefront of online sales and digital marketing.
Tell us a bit more about your role and everyday responsibilities for Triton.
My day to day tasks revolve around advertising. My responsibility is to create a user experience that generates sales and leads through paid ads.
Day to day, that translates into creating engaging ads, continually monitoring for success, and making changes as quickly as a need is identified.
What Do You Enjoy Most About Your Position?
Creating sustainable growth and building brand value has always been my passion. Triton Commerce lets me live that every day.
What are some challenges unique to your role?
The initial challenge is finding a way to make ads profitable for each client. Once that is accomplished, the next challenge is to profitably increase the amount spent on ads to increase growth.
If it was easy, everyone would do it. Understanding buying habits and processes, coupled with my study of the way we as humans make decisions, makes this role a wonderful fit for me.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
There was never anything I wanted to be when I grew up. From time to time, I thought it would be enjoyable to be a butler in a home like the Addams Family. However, when I was around 8 years old, I began computer programming with C++ and knew computers would be part of what I did in the future.
I’ve always been a dabbler though. Learning new skills or information is a never-ending process for me. I still have no idea what I want to be when I grow up!
You're a big podcast fan, right? What are some of your favorites?
Yes, podcasts are increasingly becoming wonderful sources for information. My #1 podcast is the Joe Rogan Experience. Joe and I share many interests and his guest lineup is diverse and usually an expert in their field.
Comedy is always at the top of my list, and another podcast I like to keep up on is the Bill Bert podcast. It’s Bill Burr and Bert Kreischer, both comedians having a blast together.
You're also into experimental hypnotherapy. Can you explain what that is?
In its simplest form, hypnotherapy is the use of hypnosis in a therapeutic way. When you add in the experimental part, it simply adds in the discovery process of what hypnosis can be used for.
Yes, I use hypnotherapy in the traditional sense. I also use it to explore the ability of the mind. Particularly how the mind can affect the body.
What's something else unique or interesting about you that others might not know?
Well, I could go on for days answering this question, so I’ll pick two of my favorite topics: tea and whitewater rafting.
About 15 years ago, I was introduced to Chinese tea and have been a student ever since. The practice of slowing down, preparing the tea, and mindfully tasting the flavors has become meditative for me. Making tea can become terribly specific when you get into temperature, how long to steep, rinsing or not rinsing your tea, etc. I was taught there are many technical aspects of making tea, and in the end, the only thing that matters is that you make it how you like it.
My love for whitewater rafting brought me out to Oregon to be certified as a guide. Much of my time was spent on the McKenzie and Rogue rivers. We spent days rafting in terrible rain, which increased the rapids’ speed and danger in areas. The most thrilling moments were having to jump out of the raft and swim Class 5 rapids. I’m always looking for a challenge both physically and mentally, and rafting brings those two together in an intense way.
What are some of your favorite things to do when you're not working?
Outside of work, I invest a good amount of time into our homestead. My wife, kids, and I take care of a large garden that feeds us most of the summer and well into the winter. When the work is done, you’ll find me in the gym or on the mat training Jiu Jitsu and other mixed martial arts disciplines. When the physical training is done, I make sure to take care of myself mentally with meditation and hypnosis.
