Front end developers are distinguished from back end developers, who program what goes on behind the scenes of a website. At Triton Commerce, our web design team includes both types of developers, as well as web designers. Jordan Pinski joined Triton in July 2018 as a front end developer and quickly proved his talents as an experienced developer and software engineer.
Get to know Jordan and learn how he works with the rest of Team Triton to produce high-performing, functional websites.
Can You Share A Little Bit About Your Background And What Led You To Your Role At Triton?
The first website I built was for a game server a friend and I started in high school. Since then, I’ve been a little obsessed with programming and building websites.
Tell us a bit more about your role and everyday responsibilities for Triton.
I turn designs into functional websites and maintain our base theme. This involves figuring out what elements we use in our designs and finding the most efficient way to implement them.
What Do You Enjoy Most About Your Position?
I’ve always liked solving problems and putting puzzles together. Developing websites and programming, in general, involves a lot of problem-solving.
What are some challenges unique to your role?
In a lot of situations, there’s no clear right or wrong way to solve a problem. It’s up to me to find a solution that works and is efficient.
What is the most valuable thing you've learned so far during your time at Triton?
I’ve learned how all of the pieces of our company work together to create successful websites for our clients. Every team member plays a crucial role in delivering a quality product.
If you had to trade jobs with one person at Triton for a day, who would you pick and why?
I would trade jobs with a designer. As a programmer, I design logical systems but usually not the UI/UX that the end-user will see
When you were 5, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I never knew what I wanted to do. I always felt like I would find something I enjoyed doing. Programming is where I wanted to be; I just didn’t know it at the time.
I heard you used to develop prison security systems?! What would be your "last meal"?
This is a really dark question, lol. It would have to be something delicious, so maybe a chimichanga.
What's something else unique or interesting about yourself that others might not know?
I started my first garden this year.
What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?
I work on various projects, some that involve computers and some that don’t. My wife and I bought our first house last year, so there are a lot of things I’ve been learning how to do to maintain and improve the property. Continually learning new things is important to me. It helps me find new things I like and grow as a person.
