Erin works with our team of writers, providing them with the tools and information they need to create successful content.

Can You Share A Little Bit About Your Background And What Led You To Your Role At Triton?

“While I was at Iowa State University earning my undergraduate degree in Journalism & Mass Communication, my professors, advisors, and various internships helped me realize there were more writing-focused fields than simply journalism. When I discovered Triton, I knew the role as a Content Specialist (a role I held until 2018) fit my skills perfectly.”

Tell us a bit more about your role and everyday responsibilities for Triton.

“As a Content Manager, my role is to create, improve, and maintain all written copy produced by the content team and Triton, as a whole. I oversee all marketing initiatives from a content standpoint to ensure brand consistency and that search engine optimization (SEO) is utilized. Marketing initiatives include new websites, website blogs, and digital ads.”

What Do You Enjoy Most About Your Position?

“I enjoy helping new writers gain confidence in their website content writing abilities. Generally speaking, this is still considered a newer field, so not everyone has experience writing for the web.”

Describe a typical day for you in your role.

“Each day, I work to improve the brands of our clients, one piece of content at a time. A usual day consists of me managing and editing ongoing SEO copy for websites, as well as working with the content team members to help them improve their writing skills and ensure they understand and correctly execute their assigned project objectives.”

What's the most valuable thing you've learned so far in your time at Triton?

“Before I came to Triton, I knew very little about SEO. Not only have I been able to grow my own SEO-writing skills, but I’ve been able to help new writers, as well. In 2019, it’s a very valuable skill to have.”

Why is content marketing so important in businesses of all sizes?

“We’re currently living in the digital age, where tech-savvy generations are using search engines to find the answers to their questions. Even if a business owner has a website, if it’s not properly designed and optimized, it will more than likely lose business to a competitor. It’s time every small business owner recognizes the importance of having an effective online presence.”

What advice do you have for business owners who are doing their own content marketing?

“Unless you have a digital marketing guru on staff to take charge of your business’s online marketing, you’re probably not using the existing marketing channels effectively. Instead, focus your efforts on your best skills (running your business), and leave the marketing to us.” 

If You Had To Trade Jobs With One Person At Triton For A Day, Who Would you Pick and Why?

“No one. I paid way too much money to my university to even think about changing career paths.”

When you were 8, what did you want to be when you grew up?

“I think I wanted to be a marine biologist. Back then I thought it just meant playing with dolphins all day. And clearly, there are no dolphins in the Midwest.”

What are some of your favorite things to do outside of work?

“I enjoy spending time outside both during the summer and winter. I enjoy biking, hiking, skiing, and exploring new breweries around Minneapolis.”
